Description:

After a certain point, money is meaningless. It ceases to be the goal. The game is what counts.~Aristotle Onassis

There's a mystery floating in Charleston, South Carolina and it revolves around one word...Kythera. To anyone outside the city limits it means nothing, but to those who live there it's a word whispered in awe and respect or jealousy and hate.

Welcome to a world where money isn't the only name of the game.

All the King’s Men is the sequel to The Kings of Charleston and continues the adventures of Casper and Cal as they try to escape Kythera and the mysterious group looking to destroy the “K”. Will they leave behind everything they've known or will their association with Kythera destroy them before they can escape?

The Kings of Charleston asked, are you in? All the King's Men asks, will you survive?

My heartbeat pulsed under my skin, so loud and fast I could feel each thud as if it were keeping time with a race horse. I was excited, but terrified at the same time. For the first time in my life, there was no chosen path to follow, only endless possibilities.
I let down the windows and let the air rush against my hair and skin as we sped out of the Charleston city limits. I had always loved the tingly feeling of the wind on my skin. Normally, I was flying on horseback, but today a car would have to do. Either way, the wind against my face was what I thought freedom should feel like. Maybe that’s why had always loved horses . . . the rush of air, the pounding of hooves, and the open space all equaled freedom. The one thing I wanted more than anything else.
I never thought finding freedom would require running away, but I hadn’t known what else to do. I just hoped that one day my parents could understand why I had done it. I had always assumed that when I got older, I would become a champion jumper and go on to inherit my parents’ successful thoroughbred legacy, Ghost Hill Farms. But that all changed when my parents announced--a week before the end of my junior year of high school--that we were packing up our lives in Lexington, Kentucky, to move to Charleston, South Carolina.
I would never forget the emotions I had felt that day. My world had been blown to bits, and I didn’t think the pieces could ever be put back together--at least, not like they used to be. And maybe that was okay, because as terrible as the situation was, it had led me to Cal.
I looked over at Cal, who had fallen asleep in the passenger seat. His handsome face was still, and his jet-black hair was whirling in the wind, but he didn’t move or wake up. I smiled to myself.
As terrifying as leaving our parents behind was, for the first time in our lives we were truly free. No more parties to appear and perform at like trained circus monkeys. No more
disappointing our parents when we weren’t the life of the party. I felt a pang of sadness as I thought about my dad and mother. I loved them, even though I never really understood them or felt like I belonged in their world. If only I could convince them to leave, too, and we all could live happily ever after at Ghost Hill.
I looked down at the speedometer to make sure I wasn’t going too fast. I didn’t need to attract the attention of the cops. I was positive by now that Tyson had called in the police to find us. We were an easy target, since we had driven away from Charleston in a black Audi clearly marked with Kythera on its wheel well and a big red “K” on the back. Now I understood why they marked their cars and tattooed their members. It made it pretty difficult to escape--but we were still going to try.
